Lola-Rae Travers Triumphs at Ariat Senior British Novice Championship Second Round
Wednesday 08 July 2026
Lola-Rae Travers secured victory in the Ariat Senior British Novice Championship Second Round at Norfolk Show Jumping Club, producing the fastest of the clear rounds in a competitive jump-off to book her place at the prestigious British Showjumping National Championships Final.
A total of 28 horse-and-rider combinations came forward to tackle Toby Bancroft's testing track, with the course proving influential throughout the competition. Only six combinations managed to jump clear through both the opening round and the second round to secure their place in the all-important jump-off.
Setting a strong pace against the clock, Lola-Rae Travers partnered Emily Clifton's Lorretta II to produce a faultless round in 41.77 seconds, taking the win and earning qualification for the championship final.
Amber Whitehead claimed second place aboard Baileys On Ice, also delivering a superb clear round in the jump-off, stopping the clock in 50.28 seconds.
With qualification secured, Lola-Rae and Amber will now look ahead to the Ariat Senior British Novice Championship Final, held at the British Showjumping National Championships, where they will compete against the country's leading combinations for the coveted national title.
" I have been riding Lorretta for about 6 months now, she’s only five so hasn’t done that much, only really over the last few months, although we’ve not been together long we really seem to get on. I’ve just turned fourteen and moved onto horses early last year and I am starting to really get going with the horses now. I have had a few rides passed my way which has really helped.
We were drawn first to go, the course rode really nicely, it’s such a lovely arena at Norfolk SJC. We are really pleased with Lorretta, she also came third in the Novice second round the day before too, she has also qualified for a few other classes at BSNC so we are really looking forward to that. I also have a couple of qualifications for the Children on Horse’s final and also a couple of our own horses for the silver league, so we will be heading down to Chard at the end of the month to do the semi-final and hopefully qualify. We have quite a bit to concentrate on!"
