Rachel Walker Claims Victory in the Silver League Semi Final at Bishop Burton College

Monday 08 August 2016

Rachel Walker produced a solid final jump off performance to take her to the top of the leader board in the Northern Silver League Semi-Final held at Bishop Burton College. This win takes her through to the Silver League Final held at this year’s Horse of the Year Show in October.

A strong field of forty-two combinations took on Neil Foster’s well designed course, but numbers were more than halved in the first round. Just twenty competitors went on to contest the second round and some struggled to leave all the fences standing. Eight hardy combinations were left to go head to head in the final jump off for one of seven qualifications spots were up for grab.

Drawn first to go, Rachel from Penrith, Cumbria led from the very beginning. Riding her own 10 year old bay mare, Bo GI, this pair crossed the finish line in an unbeatable time of 37.96 seconds.

Gillian Anderson from Lanarkshire rode into second place on board Linda Anderson’s 9 year-old bay mare, Congeniality B. This pair posted a convincing treble clear in 41.57 seconds.

Paul Bevan from Staffordshire was snapping at Gillian’s heels as he scooped third place just a fraction of a second behind her in 41.90 seconds. Paul was riding his own 8 year old chestnut gelding Deangelo II.
