National 5 year old Championship

Lithuanian rider Donatas Janciauskas, now based in Bolton, secured the win today in Championship Arena 2 for the National 5 year old Championship at the British Showjumping National Championships. Riding his own Cool Quarz the pair finished on a time of 34.29 seconds and were one of only three clears in the jump off.

The course asked questions of the 5 year olds but Cool Quarz and Donatas produced tight turns into the fences and saw their stride into the last fence to secure the win.

Donatas commented on his bay gelding’s round “He’s very scopey, and some of the fences were pretty square but he left lots of room. I bought him as an unbroken four year old last year and we jumped in the 4 year old Championship where we were placed second, so I am so pleased to come back this year and win this class. He’s just brilliant but he can be such a cheeky boy; first time I got on him he tried to bite my feet and buck me off! But we’ve manged to work through and hopefully he’ll keep on progressing.”

Runner up to Donatas was Michael Potter riding his own Haya Loma N who finished on a time of 36.18 seconds after jumping clear.
