Today the Royal Highland Show played host to the fourth leg of the International Stairway and it was  19 year-old Millie Allen who jumped to victory on board her farther 11 year-old bay stallion, Balou Star.

As one of only three combinations to produce a double clear, Millie showed her talent as she gave a fast and accurate jump off round, over Adrian Palmer’s challenging course.  Millie and Balou crossed the finish to secure their win in just 49.85 seconds.

Helen Tredwell dominated the remaining placings as she took both second and third place. Riding Alan Tredwell’s 11 year- old mare, Larksong, Helen produced the fastest clear in the first round. They then went on the post their double clear just over a second behind Millie, to claim seconds place in 50.99 seconds.

Proving her consistency, Helen rode Colin Garratt’s 10 year-old bay gelding, Sebastian VII, into third place and the final double clear of the competition in a time of 52.97 seconds

The International Stairway takes place across a number of county shows where winning combinations accrue League Points that count towards the Final which takes place at the British Showjumping National Championships in August at Stoneleigh Park.  The series culminates with a high profile championships where three Horse of the Year Show International Wild Cards are allocated as well as it being where the sports National Champion is crowned.
