Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ of Great Britain CSIO5* at Hickstead

Friday 26 July 2019

Team Sweden made it a back-to-back double when following up their home win in Falsterbo two weeks ago with an even more definitive victory in the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ of Great Britain at Hickstead (GBR) today.

With double-clear performances from both Angelie von Essen (Luikan K) and Peder Fredricson (Zacramento), and only a single error from pathfinder Fredrik Jonsson (Cold Play), they completed on just four faults without having to call up anchorman Rolf-Goran Bengtsson (Oak Grove’s Carlyle).

Ireland lined up second on eight faults after a tight tussle with the Italians who finished third on a total of nine. The defending series champions from Belgium finished fourth (16 faults), USA lined up fifth (20 faults) and Brazil and Germany were separated by time when both completed with 21 faults on the board.

Despite a masterclass double clear performance from Ben Maher MBE on Tic Tac, a 16 year-old bay stallion owned by Jane Forbes Clark and Ben, Britain finished last (28 faults) of the eight competing nations, hampered by elimination for a first-round fall at the Hickstead water fence for the opening partnership of Amanda Derbyshire and Roulette BH, a 10 year-old British bred bay gelding owned by Gochman Sport Horse LLC. Both Amy Inglis and James Wilson were also in action for Great Britain today riding Wishes, an 11 year-old British bred chestnut mare owned by Claire Inglis and Imagine de Muze, an 11 year-old black mare owned by Susan Larson respectively.
