Kerry Brennan storms to victory in the seventh leg of the International Stairway.

As the penultimate stage of the International Stairway competition at The Great Yorkshire Show was fierce, but it was Kelly Brennan from Chesterfield, Derbyshire who shot to victory aboard Wellington M owned by Liane Smith.

Among an accomplished field, Kerry showed her aptitude by riding into pole position with the 13 year-old bay gelding.  Hot on her heels to take second place was Chelsea Skelton from Gainsborough, Lincolnshire riding Judith Whitham’s 10 year-old bay gelding, Millfield Baloney. Third place was scooped up by West Yorkshire rider Joe Clayton riding Conman JX, a 9 year-old bay gelding owned by Sarah Billington.

The International Stairway takes place across a number of county shows where winning combinations accrue League Points that count towards the Final which takes place at the British Showjumping National Championships in August at Stoneleigh Park.  The series culminates with a high profile championships where three Horse of the Year Show International Wild Cards are allocated as well as it being where the sports National Champion is crowned.
