Jessica Hewitt wins La Equina Grand Prix

Monday 02 March 2020

It was a win for British rider Jessica Hewitt with the 8 year-old grey mare Chilli owned by Thomas Williams in the Sunshine Tour FEI 4* La Equina Medium Tour Grand Prix yesterday at Vejer de la Frontera, Spain.

A hotly contested class that saw just short of sixty combinations come forward it was a twelve-strong jump off that settled the final placings across the 1.45m class.  It was Jessica that claimed the title by putting in an extremely fast clear in a time of 30.60 seconds relegating Max Wachman (IRL) into 2nd place with Atlantic du Seigneur with his time of 31.49 seconds.

With three quarters of the jump-off field managing to achieve a second-round clear it was only a fraction of a second that then separated the next four places which were split evenly between GBR and the home nation. Alex Codina Leria (ESP) took 3rd whilst Brits David McPherson and Charlie Jones took 4th and 5th  place respectively with Enrique Camiruaga Rueda taking 6th.
