India Bussey Crowned Victor of the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round at The College Equestrian Centre, Keysoe

Fifteen year-old India Bussey was crowned victor of the final Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round of the season at The College Equestrian Centre, Keysoe yesterday. This win secures their appearance at the championship final held at the prestigious Horse of the Year Show in October.

Under blue skies, fifty-eight competitors began the class with high hopes but the challenges of a technical course saw just nineteen make it through to the second round. Numbers continued to drop as the second round took more casualties, leaving nine skilled combinations to battle it out in the jump off.

India from Norwich, Norfolk did not let the pressure affect her performance as from second draw she produced an accurate and lightning fast clear round. Riding the 10 year-old brown gelding, Ocelot II, owned by Louise Bussey, the pair crossed the finish line in 41.65 seconds and did so with a treble clear under their belts.

Taking the final qualification spot and second place was 14 year-old Lauren Roach from Berkshire. Unable to rival India’s speed, Lauren and Makita, an 8 year-old dun mare owned by Tessa Bremner, posted their trebble clear in 42.63 seconds.

Snapping up third place was 13 year-old Anoushka Mauree from Berkshire on board Westervelds Florijn, an 11 year-old chestnut gelding owned by Arlina Mauree. This pair took the gamble on accuracy over speed and it paid off as they finished with a treble clear in 44.94 seconds.

Narrowly missing out in a qualification spot, Anoushka will join the riders in fourth and filth place for another chance to qualify from the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Masters at the British Showjumping National Championships next week.
