Imogen Marmont Wins Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round at Church Farm Equestrian

Fourteen year-old Imogen Marmont from Shrewsbury, Shropshire jumped to victory from a fifty strong field in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round at Church Farm Equestrian in Ormskirk, Lancashire on Sunday and in doing so, she claimed a place in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship Final.

With only two direct qualification places up for grabs for the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show, the tension grew as this second round came down to an eleven horse jump off.

As one of only three combinations able to produce a treble clear, Imogen riding  Vanessa Marmont’s 7 year-old bay gelding TJ Simba, eased into first place after producing an unbeatably fast and precise clear round in 36.15 seconds.

Second place and the final direct qualification spot went to 16 year-old Matthew Edwards, also from Shrewsbury, Shropshire on board Andrew Chamberlain’s 10 year-old chestnut gelding, Dude. This pair gave a steady but accurate performance to jump into seconds place in a time of 40.59 seconds.

With the top two taking the direct qualifying tickets for the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show, the riders and ponies that finished in third to fifth missed out on Championship qualification this time around. They did however take home the chance to compete in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Masters at the British Showjumping National Championships.
