Hayley Lewis Books Her Place in the Dodson & Horrell 0.95m National Amateur Championship Final
Monday 05 September 2016

The first of this year’s Dodson & Horrell 0.95m National Amateur Second Rounds took place at Port Royal Equestrian Centre in Holme on Spalding Moor, York yesterday and it was Hayley Lewis from Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire who notched up the win.
A field of twenty-three starters came forward and each rider was jumping with the hope of picking up one of the twelve qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships which will be held at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool between the 16th – 20th November.
Riding her own 14 year-old bay mare Catoo Van De Platello, the pair were one of ten combinations to come forward for the jump off and they showed great accuracy and pace to finish up with a double clear in 40.09 seconds. This result was to eventually give them well over a second in hand.
Second place was picked up by Vanessa Townsend from Goole, Yorkshire after she produced her double clear on board Wonder II, a 13 year-old bay mare owned by Terry McDonald. They crossed through the finish in 41.17 seconds.
Thirteen year-old Annabel Lomas from Buxton, Derbyshire secured third place with Vraiecocotte Berence, a 7 year-old bay mare owned by Irene Warnock. This combination also went on to secure a double clear and did so in 47.97 seconds.
