Emma Crawford Claims Victory at Pony Showjumper of the Year at South View Equestrian Centre

Wednesday 22 June 2016

16 year-old Emma Crawford from Supar, Fife claimed a triumphant victory on Moonlight Flight in the Pony Showjumper of the Year at South View’s Pony Premier, securing a place at the championship final held at this year’s Horse of the Year Show in October.

A field of thirty-nine competitors tackled the imposing first round with just six gaining the first step to glory with initial clear rounds over a tough track to access the jump-off.  Three further clears filled the qualifying places, with Emma forging ahead by a commanding 2.78 sec on Lynn Crawford’s 19-year-old Irish-bred gelding Moonlight Flight.

The win means Emma goes to the HOYS final double-handed, she also has Stars Surprise in the prestigious championship after winning at Weston Lawns.

14 year-old Nicole Lockhead Anderson from Banchory has enjoyed a bumper weekend by taking qualification places in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomer and Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter championship finals on Gangnam Style, finished second here to make it three.  The 20-year-old Cappagh Supreme, another evergreen Irish-bred, matched Nicole’s fervour in the pony showjumper to take second and another HOYS finalist place.

Sophie Bowen Howard aged 14 year-old from Preston, Lancashire took the third qualifying place on the German-bred mare Dafina K, a 16-year-old with Dover x Calypso I bloodlines.
