Just six of the initial starters pulled a clear first round out of the bag and this enabled all six to take a qualifying spot to the Championships being held next week. All six opted to jump-off to decide their final placings and two combinations kept a clean slate to produce a double clear.
Amy Sharrat from Market Weighton, York made her short journey to Port Royal a positive one when she claimed the winning spot in the 85cm second round with her own 14 year-old mare Ublesco Gold. They produced the quickest of the double clears in 48.60 seconds. Second place was awarded to Sally Sheldon from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire and her own Dinin Holly, a 5 year-old grey mare whom only started competing in May. The pair produced a careful round to finish in 51.82 seconds.

Only two qualification tickets for the 95cm Championships were claimed on Saturday as a tough first round track saw faults occur all across the track with just one combination going on to produce a double clear.
It was an easy win for 16 year-old Jakob Bartlett from Doncaster, South Yorkshire. He rode two effortless rounds to take the win with Samantha Halliwell’s JB Van Den Hut, a 10 year-old Belgian bred gelding whom Jakob started competing in May. They crossed the finish line in 45.89 seconds. Tracey Clarkson from Malton, North Yorkshire piloted her own 10 year-old Dutch bred mare Eleta II into second place.

In the 1.05m second round, again, only two of the initial starting field could produce a clear in the first round. Despite a small jump-off field both combinations gave it their all.
Kieran Moss from Salisbury, Wiltshire made the long journey up North worthwhile as he produced a double clear to claim the win with his Grabiella, an 8 year-old Dutch bred mare whom Kieran has competed for two years. They produced the slightly slower time of 46.46 seconds but the clear sealed them the win. Jessica Balmer from Poulton-le-Flyde, Lancashire gave her best shot with her own 6 year-old Belgian bred mare Nea Van Het Audgoed, they produced the quicker time of 45.68 seconds but paid the price when the second rail fell.

Three clears came from the first round of the 1.10m second round. The jump-off proved to be fierce despite each rider knowing they had gained a qualifying spot to the Championships next week.
Seventeen year-old Katherine Tasker from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire steered her own Ballygar Boy, a 13 year-old Irish bred gelding into first place after producing a double clear in 40.34 seconds.
