Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) Camp
Friday 08 November 2019
The first Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) camp for the 2019/20 cohort got underway at Hartpury College at the end of October with riders from British Showjumping, British Dressage and British Eventing taking up their place on the two year Level 3 qualification programme.
The programme provides riders who are in further education with opportunities to improve performance via a blended learning programme consisting of central ‘camps’ at Hartpury College and ‘home visits’ from the rider’s assigned mentor/assessor.
The first Equestrian DiSE camp saw students introduced to Hartpury and the programme for their study outlined. They began with some “getting to know” ice breakers amongst students and assessors who they will be working together with across the programme. They then started some work on the importance of athlete physical capability both in the classroom and in the Equestrian gym facility at Hartpury.
On day two students were fortunate to have a guest lecture from an equestrian feed company which gave the students some real life experiences both to think about for their future careers but also to link in to their Nutritional modules.
Students will now go on their 1:1 journey with their assessors before our next meet up in February.
