Thirty-two combinations came forward to take on Ian Clark’s eleven fence track with seventeen going through to the jump-off. The competition looked fierce as ten of those combinations produced a double clear with all eyes turning to the clock to decide on placings.

It was Georgina Beeson from Grindley, Staffordshire who made her trip a successful one when she piloted Barbara Beeson’s Jazzy Footwork, a 13 year-old Irish bred mare whom Georgina has ridden for four years, to victory in the fastest time of the class. The pair crossed the finish line in 31.12 seconds, 1.37 seconds ahead of second placed Carole Gleave and her own Bellatrix IV.

Just short of half of the initial starting combinations in the 1.05m second round kept their hopes of qualifying alive by jumping clear around Course Designer Ian Clark’s first round track but with only eight going on to keep a clean sheet in the jump-off all qualifying tickets went to those who managed to produce a double clear.

The fastest of those double clears and claiming the win was Macclesfield based Jenna Cairns. Jenna used her experienced partnership with her own 16 year-old Dutch bred mare Wonderful III to good use and edged ahead of John Shaw to seal the win in a time of 39.98 seconds. John and his own Erino B were close behind in second place with a time of 40.43 seconds
