Dodson & Horrell 0.95cm and 1.10m National Amateur Second Rounds at Badgworth Arena

On Sunday 2nd November, Badgworth Arena in Ayrbridge, Somerset hosted the last of the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds for 2014 and they finished the qualification period with a 0.95cm second round and a 1.10m second round.
Each starter was aiming to collect one of the direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 19th – 23rd November 2014.

Seventeen combinations came forward for this second round and six produced the first round clear required to make it through into the jump off. Four double clears were then delivered.
Chloe Burrough, aged 17, from Honiton, Devon took the top spot in the second round after producing the quickest double clear of the class on board her own 17 year-old bay gelding Leo. Two immaculate rounds from this combination saw them cross the finish line with a double clear in just 27.96 seconds, a time which gave them over two seconds in hand.
Second place was taken by 55 year-old Pierre Baber from Kingswood, Bristol on his own 11 year-old bay gelding Chaparral. This combination delivered their double clear in 30.27 seconds to take their place in the top two.
Third place went to 16 year-old Gaby Struel from Cardiff, South Glamorgan and she rode her own 14 year-old grey mare Hole In One II. They also produced two foot perfect rounds to gain their double clear in 32.49 seconds.
An additional three riders also went on to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 0.95cm National Amateur Championship Final.

Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round.
This second round was contested by nine starting combinations and seven of these went to compete in the jump off after securing an initial first round clear. The top three places were subsequently taken by the three combinations to finish with a double clear.
The winner’s spot was taken by 22 year-old Zoe Coombes from Newton Abbot, Devon after she delivered the fastest double clear of the class on her own 7 year-old grey mare Chamora S. Drawn third to go in the jump off, the combination’s fast and accurate clear saw them prove to be unbeatable after they jumped their double clear in 37.56 seconds.
Second place went to 53 year-old Jancey Wembridge from Taunton, Somerset and she took her place in the top two with her own 19 year-old bay mare Who’s Dilemma. This combination’s double clear was secured in 40.36 seconds.
Jane Gregory, aged 42, from Crewkerne, Somerset took third place on Pop Larkin, her own 8 year-old bay gelding. Their double clear was gained in 42.83 seconds.
An further four riders also went on to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Championship Final.
