Derek Morton lands the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Round at Field House Equestrian Centre

Derek Morton from Stone in Staffordshire claims the top spot in the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Round held at Field House Equestrian Centre in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire on Sunday.

Fifty-three combinations came forward to take on David Cole’s twelve fence first round track and twelve made it through to the third round with the hopes of gaining a treble clear that would secure them a qualifying ticket into the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Championship Final, which will be held during the British Showjumping National Championships in August.

Derek raced ahead with Brian Squire’s 5 year-old B Zirocco Blue VDL sired stallion, Zlatan Z, they crossed the finish line in 55.54 seconds. Emma Sargeant and Etoile Du Vilpion were the only combination to come close to Derek’s time. Emma and the 5 year-old French bred mare owned by Claire Davies posted a time of 57.60 seconds to take home second place.

The final two treble clears stopped the clock on exactly the same time of 68.24 seconds; Katy Townshend with her own Okey VanT Kattenheye, another 5 year-old in the line-up, this time a Belgian bred with Diamant De Semilly lines and Lynn Montgomerie and her own Von Squarkencluck, a 7 year-old British bred by Billy Congo shared third prize.
