Charlie Jones wins the Voltaire Design Under 25 British Championship Qualifier at Addington Equestrian
Monday 04 November 2019

The last Voltaire Design Under 25 British Championship Qualifier took place at Addington Equestrian in Buckinghamshire during their Winter Classic Show on Thursday evening. The qualifier was incorporated into the National 1.40m Open.
The qualifier saw the four highest placed riders, disregarding those already qualified, gain a qualifying ticket for the Voltaire Design Under 25 British Championship to be held at Olympia, The London International Horse Show which takes place between the 16th – 22nd December 2019.
Twenty year-old Charlie Jones from Lutterworth, Leicestershire took an impressive one-two for Ardencote Stud with Dexter XI and Gerko III respectively. He utilised every short-cut on offer with both horses but Dexter XI’s naturally quick stride proved too much for anyone to catch as they crossed the line with 4.15 seconds in hand. Charlie’s second ride Gerko III finished in 44.20 seconds.
Northamptonshire’s Joe Stockdale was the next highest placed under 25 rider and he piloted his mother Laura Stockdale’s Don Diego De Plata into fourth place. Both Charlie and Joe have already gained their place to the Championship and so the qualifying tickets were passed down the line.
Allana Clutterbuck from Upminster, Essex and her Junior Nations Cup partner Vykinbay, a 10 year-old French bred owned by Sally Lane, clinched the first ticket available. The pair finished fifth overall with a time of 45.96 seconds and four faults in the jump-off. Claiming the second qualifying ticket and picking up sixth place overall was Dorset based Yazmin Davis, she piloted Alison Davis’ 10 year-old Belgian bred gelding, Zanbowa Z to a jump-off time of 46.63 seconds with one pole down.
Glastonbury based Flo Norris picked up her place in the Championship with Teck de Riverland, a 12 year-old French bred owned by Cisca Norris, they finished in eighth place overall whilst tenth placed James Whitaker from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire claimed the final ticket on offer with Ellen Lutener’s Caloro Ex Z, an 11 year-old Belgian bred gelding whom James took over the ride on in June.
NB: Qualifications will be updated pending official grading of results
