Ben Maher & Diva win UAX Trophy in Madrid

Saturday 26 November 2016

It was a late night finish in Madrid yesterday that saw Ben Maher with Diva II, owned by himself and Tatiana Korsokava, secure a brilliant win and the lion share of the €92,000 prize fund.

From a field of forty eight starters it was eleven that jumped clear in the 1st round with Ben having delivered the fastest time within the group.   Diva, an 11 year-old British Bred chestnut mare, looked incredible in the first round and even more so in the second when she blistered home clear in a time of 33.77 seconds which proved unbeatable by the five other combinations who also broke the finish line on a zero penalty score.

Ludger Beerbaum (GER) and Chiara took 2nd place with a time of 33.99 seconds whilst Edwina Tops-Alexander (AUS) and Lintea Tequila took 3rd.  For full results visit http://bit.ly/2fNOHre

Earlier in the evening young Jessica Mendoza secured another win for Great Britain, this time in the JumpingClash Challenge.  Riding the 9 year-old bay mare Constance the were the fastest clear in a time of 52.76 seconds to lead the line up relegating the remaining fifteen riders behind her.  Known as a fast rider, Jessica definitely dissapoint as she managed to set her lead some three seconds ahead of Teresa Blasquez-Abascal (ESP) and Carola who took 2nd place.
