Allana Clutterbuck Tops the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round at the Welsh Home Pony
Tuesday 02 August 2016

Allana Clutterbuck topped a marathon Blue Chip Pony Newcomer second round with Atomic Du Bary, beating one hundred and two rivals to the top spot at the Wales and West Showground. The win guarantees them a place in the Championship Final held at the Horse of the Year Show, NEC, Birmingham, in October.
More than a hundred tackled the first round track, all hoping for a qualification spot but they were quickly reduced to twenty-five for round two, and just nine contended the final jump-off.
15 year- old Allana from Upminster, Essex posted her winning round in the third draw with Atomic Du Bary, a French-bred six-year-old sired by Frascator Mail she has ridden for the past two years.
The speedy pair relegated 15 year-old Ryan Lockwood from Wiltshire into second on Michael Whitaker’s nine-year-old mare Nelly III by 0.60 sec. But Ryan had done enough to take a qualifying position, remaining in second place despite several challenges.
14 year-old Rebecca Bowden made the journey all the way from Scotland worthwhile by taking third on the 14-year-old Norbet above Ffion Roberts in fourth on the 10-year-old gelding Kantjes Bozzy and Madison Jamison in fifth aboard the seven-year-old Sweepstake to fill the top five newcomer Master places at the British Showjumping National Championships later this month, where they have another chance of qualifying for HOYS.
