Alexandra Thornton finishes 3rd in Grand Prix of Salzburg

It was a 3rd and 5th place for the Brits in the CSI 4* Grand Prix of Salzburg earlier today when Alexandra Thornton and Holly Smith finished in 3rd and 5th place respectively.

Only three jump-off clears were achieved within the class that had approaching forty starters; Alexandra Thornton with Dunwalke Ltd’s Cornetto K made up one of them.  Andrew Kocher (USA) took 1st with a time of 39.54 seconds whilst Wilm Vermeir (BEL) in 41.26 seconds took 2nd whilst Alexandra secured 3rd with her time of 43.30 seconds.

Holly Smith with T J Hall Ltd’s Hearts Destiny, who were one of the Bronze medal winning team riders for Great Britain at the European Championships earlier this year, took 5th having post a very fast time albeit picking up 8 penalties along the way to see her sit lower down the final line-up.  William Whitaker, who is now based in the USA, took 9th with Rmf Cadeau de Muze owned by Rushy Marsh Farm LLC.
