Remy Wilson Barnes Secures Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Round Victory at Willow Banks

The Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Championship Second Round at Willow Banks provided a thrilling day of competition, as riders set their sights on qualification for the prestigious British Showjumping National Championships later this year.
A total of 41 rider combinations came forward to tackle Piers Warmoth’s carefully crafted course, which proved to be both technical and demanding. With accuracy and consistency key, just 14 combinations managed to jump two clear rounds and secure their place in a competitive jump-off.
It was Remy Wilson Barnes who ultimately emerged victorious, delivering a superb performance aboard her own Positano Termie Eurohill Z. The pair produced a fast and faultless round, stopping the clock in an impressive 31.07 seconds to take the win.
Hot on her heels was Stephanie Gunn riding Quarantino, who also jumped a polished clear in a time of 31.15 seconds, narrowly missing out on the top spot in a closely fought finish. Third place went to Lisa Jones with Ally Cat Z, adding another clear round to the jump-off with a time of 32.81 seconds.
All three combinations showcased excellent form under pressure, highlighting the depth of talent within the class and setting up an exciting prospect for the final.
“We are so pleased to qualify, I wasn’t really aiming to win or qualify but thought it would be good experience to go and jump the second round. We got her last September as a 5 year old to do the age classes, we didn’t expect her to come on as quickly as she has. She’s quite a small mare who is brave and careful and can be quite sharp, I am quite small myself so I like them on the smaller side.
“The course was good and suited us, quite a few were knocked out from the first round, but a lot jumped clear through to the jump off. She is good against the clock so I knew I could give it a go. I think we were the only combination to turn inside the fence before the double, which paid off.
“We will now step her up to jumping Newcomers and Foxhunter first rounds before the Championships, it’s the first time this horse has qualified, so we are really pleased. My mum owns the horse, we are really excited for next year to see what she can achieve as a seven year old.” Remy said.
With qualification secured, attention now turns to the British Showjumping National Championships, where these combinations will go head-to-head with the country’s best in the Senior Discovery final.
