British Showjumping Introduces New National 95cm Championship for 2026 National Championships

British Showjumping is delighted to announce the introduction of a brand-new class to its flagship National Championships programme, with the National 95cm Championship set to take place at the 2026 British Showjumping National Championships.

The addition of this exciting new championship class has been made possible by the introduction of a third surface arena at the National Championships, creating further opportunities for members to compete at one of the sport’s most prestigious events.

Designed to provide a championship pathway for riders competing at the amateur levels of the sport, the National 95cm Championship will offer competitors the chance to showcase their talent on a national stage and compete for a coveted championship title.

Alongside the new National 95cm Championship, the existing 1.05m and 1.25m Championships will also benefit from an exciting new format. All three championships will run across three days, with riders contesting preliminary rounds before progressing to either a Championship Final or a Consolation Final. The revised structure will provide competitors with more opportunities to compete throughout the week while adding further excitement and prestige to each championship.

Qualification Criteria

  • Open to horse/rider combinations who have obtained four double clears at 90cm or above (subject to revision).
  • Restricted to combinations eligible for the Bronze League.
  • Qualification period: 1 January – 30 June inclusive.

The introduction of the National 95cm Championship reflects British Showjumping’s continued commitment to creating opportunities for members at all levels of the sport, recognising the importance of grassroots competition and providing clear progression pathways for riders and horses.

Stephanie Toogood, National Director of Sport, commented: "We are always looking for ways to enhance the National Championships experience for our members, and the addition of the additional arena has given us a fantastic opportunity to do just that. Introducing the National 95cm Championship allows us to welcome even more combinations to compete for a national title and provides another important stepping stone within our championship pathway.”

Emma Williams, Event Director at Grandstand Media, commented: “As organisers, we are committed to improving the National Championships experience and have made significant investments in the venue’s infrastructure. We’re proud to have introduced a third arena, creating opportunities to expand the programme. It’s fantastic to see this investment enable British Showjumping to launch the new National 95cm Championship and welcome even more riders to compete for a national title.”

With the National Championships continuing to evolve and grow, the addition of the third arena enables an expanded programme that will allow even more members to experience the excitement and atmosphere of competing at a national championship event.

Further details regarding the National 95cm Championship, including final qualification criteria and championship schedules, will be announced in due course.
