Zoe Smith hit top gear in the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Round

Zoe Smith hit top gear, taking victory in the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Round at The Suffolk Equestrian Centre with I Lexus Z.
A total of 46 competitors stepped up to tackle the 1.05m track built by course designer Sue Peasley in the three-round competition, with 30 posting first round clears. Such was the talent of riders in the field, only eight fell by the wayside in round two, leaving 22 horse and rider combinations to battle it out for the three qualifying spots.
Lincolnshire based Zoe, who has ridden the eight-year-old gelding owned by Emily Jade Wilson since November 2023, kept her cool and riding tight turns, secured the win by 1.22 seconds.
“We haven’t had him [I Lexus Z] long,” commented Zoe. “His owner came onboard with us as she has gone to vet school and wanted the horse to carry on jumping.
“He is a good little horse; he’s not jumped much but we’re working up to foxhunter and he was placed at Wales [Welsh Masters] last weekend. It is nice to take the win and prove what he is capable of.
Reflecting on her win, Zoe commented, “The course was built fair and there were some nice questions to answer. All three of mine went triple clear which was very pleasing.”
Elloise Smit, proprietor of The Suffolk Equestrian Centre alongside her mother Deborah, eased Navarro VII into second, Alana Bailey and Forget-Me-Not P filling third place.
