William Whitaker upholds the Tretorn honour

The Tretorn International Junior and Young Rider European Team travelled over to Jardy, France earlier on in the week to compete in their European Championships.

Wednesday was the first day of competitions which held the first of the Junior and Young Rider Individual Qualifiers. Due to bad weather the Young Riders Individual Qualifier was postponed until early this morning.

It was The Tretorn International Young Rider William Whitaker from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, who shone through jumping a clear in a time of 77.49 seconds, narrowly missing out on first place by less than a second. William rode the 11 year old bay gelding Sarlino owned by his father Ian.

Tretorn International Young Rider Joe Clayton also finished within the top 10 riding his own 11 year old bay gelding Saveur. Joe had an unlucky 4 faults which was added to his time which meant he finished on a time of 81.69 seconds.

Tretorn International Junior Rider Pippa Allen from Stockton-On-Tees, Cleveland jumped a foot perfect round in a time of 93.01 seconds, which unfortunately was not quick enough to earn her a placing within the top 10. Pippa rode the 9 year old bay gelding Bonfire III, owned by her father Peter.

The first of the Junior Team Competitions will take place later on today with the Team Final on Friday 16th. The Individual Final will commence on Sunday 18th July

The Young Rider Team Competition will take place tomorrow (Friday 16th) with their Individual Final taking place on Sunday 18th July.

Tretorn was founded in 1891 by Johan Dunker in Helsingborg, Sweden. In 1904 Tretorn was manufacturing around one million rubberboots a year. The manufacturing of rubberboots and tennis balls continued until 1991 in Helsingborg, when they moved the production overseas, to Poland and other countries. Tretorn is today one of the leading manufacturers of rubberboots in Scandinavia and as well the third biggest producer in Europe of tennis balls. Tretorn riding boot was launched during 2007. Tretorn is today owned by PUMA AG.
