From 125 starters in the first round of the Tri-Zone Senior Newcomers second round at Arena UK 12 combinations made it through to the final jump off and two combinations qualified for the Championship at the 2010 Horse of the Year Show to be held from 6th to the 10th October at the NEC, Birmingham.
20 year old Joseph Clayton from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire riding Nick Ward’s 16.2hh, 7 year old bay mare Wild Rose II took first place and the qualification jumping three clear rounds the final one in 41.02 seconds. Hot on his heels came Michael Potter from Woodborough, Nottingham riding Sport Horse Centre Stud’s 17.2hh, 8 year old grey stallion SHC Valentin R to complete his third clear in 41.80 seconds and claim the second place and qualifying ticket.

The first five combinations also qualified to compete at the Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival being held at Stafford County Showground from 29th August to 4th September 2010.
