Tahnia Jordan Jones Jumps to Victory in Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round at Bury Farm Equestrian Village

Bury Farm Equestrian Village in Slapton, Buckinghamshire held a Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round on Sunday 19th July and spectators were treated to a competitive class as seventy-three combinations turned out to compete.

With just the two direct qualifying places on offer for the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship Final at Horse of the Year Show, each rider was focused on producing a treble clear as this would put them in with the best chance of securing a sought after qualification spot.

From the thirteen combinations that made it through to the final jump off, four were able to produce a treble clear.

The quickest treble clear was delivered by 13 year-old Tahnia Jordan Jones, from Swindon, Wiltshire on her mother Julie’s 11 year-old bay gelding Sulan Hollywood Knight. They clocked their third clear round in 40.62 seconds to give themselves the victory with over two seconds in hand.

Last to go in the final jump off was 14 year-old Maia Andrews from Crowthorne, Berkshire with her mother Tania’s 8 year-old bay gelding Miami Carwyn and they went on to take that second qualification spot with their treble clear in 42.93 seconds.

With the top two taking the direct qualifying tickets for the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship Final at Horse of the Year Show, the riders and ponies that finished in third to fifth missed out on their Championship Final qualification this time around. They did however take home the chance to compete in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Masters at the British Showjumping National Championships.
