Sultan V stays consistent in Gijon
The Gijon CSIO 5* concluded yesterday with the Cajastur Grand Prix. Out of forty starters there were only four clears in the first round, one of which was British rider Bruce Menizes with Old Lodge’s nine year old Grey gelding Sultan V. Having jumped a double clear in the team competition the previous day this combination retained their top form.
The top ten riders from the first round were taken through to the jump off. With only three riders able to beat him Bruce opted for another careful round jumping clear in a time of 71.02 seconds picking up just one time fault. This proved fruitful enough for second place with only French rider Patrice Delaveau managing to jump double clear to take the win.
