Show Jumper, Carian Scudamore selected to represent Team GB at the Youth Olympic Games

The BOA has selected Carian Scudamoreto represent Team GB in Showjumping at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore from 14th to 26th August 2010.
"This is amazing, I can't believe that I'm going to the Youth Olympic Games,” said Carian. “Next week I'm at the European Championships hoping to regain my Junior title and as soon as I get home I'll be turning all my attention to Singapore."
The show jumping will take place on borrowed horses, with Carian competing both in the individual competition and also as part of a European team. One rider will represent each of Great Britain, Belgium, Italy, Poland and Switzerland to contest the team competition.
Carian, aged 17 from Cardigan, Wales, is currently the Junior European Champion and is preparing to defend her title with Nigel Scudamore’s 11 year old chestnut gelding Larino 0087 at the 2010 Championships which take place in Jardy, France from the 15th July. In 2009 Carian also received the Cynthia Muir Trophy from the British Equestrian Writers Association for the outstanding Junior rider of the season.
Singapore will be hosting the inaugural Youth Olympic Games (YOG) from 14 to 26 August 2010. The Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games will receive c.5,000 athletes and officials from the 205 National Olympic Committees (NOCs), along with an estimated 1500 media representatives, 20,000 local and international volunteers, and more than 370,000 spectators. Young athletes - aged between 14 and 18 years - will compete in 26 sports and take part in a Culture and Education Programme.
The Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games aims to inspire youth around the world to participate in sport and to embrace, embody and express the Olympic values of Excellence, Friendship and Respect.
