Sharon Teale races to a win in the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Round at Willow Banks Equestrian Centre

Sharon Teale fired off the best round in a competitive jump-off to urge Tealequest Roulette into victory at Willow Banks Equestrian Centre and confirm her place in the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Final at the British Showjumping National Championships, Stoneleigh.
Thirty-seven competitors faced course-designer Piers Warmoth’s 12-fence 1.05m track with 24 finding the key to contend round two, these further reduced to 14 for the final jump-off.
Sharon was determined from the outset and the home-bred Tealequest Roulette matched her tenacity to speed into a 0.76 second win. Joe Davies slipped Glebelands Rue De Miel into second and Caroline Toombes filled third place on If Evers Boy.
The 10-year-old Rubins Black Diamond x Toulon mare only started jumping as a six-year-old due to Sharon’s health issues with more time off added due to Covid lockdowns.
“She’s only been to about 20 shows in her life but I knew she’d be a winner the day she was born, she’s a strong character like her father. She’s hot, strong-willed and likes to do things her own way and get the job done, but that spirit works well, she rises to the occasion,” said Sharon, who has made the move north from Surrey to Lincolnshire.
Sharon bought her Roulette’s sire Rubins Black Diamond – whom she still competes – as a foal, has bred from Roulette’s sister and hopes to breed from Roulette in the future to keep the line going.
“I called her Roulette as she was a gamble; her mother didn’t want to jump and threw the towel in and I bred from her, it was a gamble that paid off,” explained Sharon.
