SCOTT BRASH & INTERTOY Z ARE THE CHARLES STANLEY BRITISH MASTERS

This weekend’s Charles Stanley British Masters International Showjumping event saw people flocking to Chester Racecourse where they could enjoy watching some top class competition in superb surroundings with in excess of £120,000 prize money at stake across the three days.

It was 24 year old Scott Brash from Peeblesshire, Scotland who added the Charles Stanley British Masters crown to his rapidly growing portfolio of 2010 successes burgeoning  with an exciting victory in the Charles Stanley British Masters Grand Prix on Sunday.
This talented young rider who has been spring-boarded his career at International Level this year showed just what a cool customer he is, when last to go he managed to edge out his British Nations Cup colleague Guy Williams.

Kent rider Guy Williams, winner of the Hickstead DFS Derby aboard Softrack Skip Two Ramiro last Sunday looked to have done enough on Torinto van de Middelstede. Making it clear they meant business, this combination renowned for their speed and agility took on course designer Bob Ellis’ testing track in style making their time 44.04 seconds look unbeatable.
However, Scott in his inimitable style aboard  the 11 year old black gelding Intertoy Z owned by his father Stanley produced a magical round just a fraction faster (43.85 seconds) securing him the winners purse of  £10,000.

Scott’s next key international competition will be as a team member at the Meydan FEI Nations Cup competition in Aachen where he will be playing a major part in ensuring Britiain retain or ascend from their current 2nd position on the league table.
“There were a lot of tall vertical fences out there on that course and it was a particularly strong track,” said Scott, who also won Saturday’s Grand Prix qualifier and £6,000 on his second horse Bon Ami. “It’s good to beat Guy. He’s always very fast, so competitive and very hard to beat. Aachen is next for me now in the Nations Cup, when I will try to do my best to help Britain stay up there.”

Britain currently lie second behind France halfway through the overall Nations Cup series, and strong performances in Falsterbo, Sweden next week, then Aachen, would set up a thrilling British leg at Hickstead on July 30.

Belgian challenger Jan Motmans finished third, with Great Britiain’s Michael Whitaker (GIG Amai) fourth and Belgium’s Guido Hornesch (Bo De Pomme) fifth.
