Samantha McNicholas Dominates Dodson & Horrell 0.85m National Amateur Second Round at Leamside Equestrian

Samantha McNicholas delivered a dominant display to take the top two places in Saturday’s Dodson & Horrell 0.85m National Amateur Second Round at Leamside Equestrian in Houghton-Le-Spring, Tyne & Wear.
Samantha, who is from Darlington, County Durham was amongst a number of other starters, all of whom were competing with the aim of claiming one of the twelve direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which will place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool (18th – 22nd November). Ten combinations eventually qualified.
On her own 13 year-old chestnut gelding Vayrann, Samantha took the top spot after producing the fastest double clear of class. The combination left all of the fences standing in just 33.63 seconds.
Samantha also went on to take second place on another of her own horses, this time the 16 year-old liver chestnut gelding Lutin De B’Neville. Their double clear was clocked up in 36.54 seconds.
Estella Harrowing from Whitby, North Yorkshire took third with her mother Wendy’s 8 year-old piebald gelding, Dereks Choice after they secured their double clear in 36.56 seconds.
