Nicole Lockhead Anderson Ride Away Victorious in The Stable Company HOYS 138cms Qualifier at Bishop Burton Arena

Nicole Lockhead Anderson is going to have a very busy Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) at the NEC, Birmingham, in October.  She won The Stable Company HOYS 138cm by almost three seconds with Sonas Barney to bring her total haul of championship finalist places to five.

Fifty-six rider and pony partnerships chased after the three qualification tickets on offer for The Stable Company HOYS 138cm Championships final which will take place in October, but only eleven managed first round clears over a tough course. An eventual seven gaining access to the third and final round against the clock.

Fourteen year-old Nicole from Banchory, Aberdeenshire produced the winning round from the third draw on the 19-year-old Irish-bred gelding Sonas Barney, taking the top spot by 2.79 seconds.

Nicole now has five HOYS finalist places.  Following a bumper show at South View pony premier in June, Shappen Pilgrim will contend The Stable Company 138cm alongside Sonas Barney; Gangnam Style II has the Blue Chip newcomer and Squibb Group Foxhunter finals, and Cappagh Supreme will jump in the Pony Showjumper of the Year final.

At Bishop Burton, thirteen year-old Emelia Mitchell from Saffron Walden, Essex and the 10-year-old appaloosa gelding Shaman Sundance, a pony she has ridden since November 2015, took second.

The amazing 19-year-old grey gelding More Than Milton, who won the HOYS final with Darby Ward in 2009, will again return to HOYS in 2016 after taking third for Amy Meredith.  Fourteen year-old Amy from Winterbourne, Bristol has competed this popular pony for the past 15 months.
