New British Showjumping Just for Schools Qualification Period Begins and Offers Further Opportunities for Younger Riders

Run in conjunction with The Pony Club, British Showjumping is delighted to announce that the qualifying period  for the 2017 Just for Schools Team & Individual Championships is under way and this year season sees the Championships offer further opportunities for younger riders at Primary School level.

Running from 1st July 2016 – 30th June 2017, the new qualification period sees the Just for Schools membership and leagues opened up to riders from the age of 5 to 19 years. Schools and colleges can submit teams of three or four riders and individuals within a specific height category of either 70cm, 80cm, 90cm, 1.00m or 1.10m. A league table underpins each of the height categories providing the platform for the top 8 teams and 10 individuals to qualify for the British Showjumping National Championships next summer.

Eligibility couldn’t be easier making the Championships accessible to all. Schools can register their team of three or four riders for just £30 per year. For riders who wish to compete as an Individual outside of the teams, as long as they are a member of British Showjumping or The Pony Club already there is no need to pay another registration fee. If not a member of either, then they can either join directly with British Showjumping for just £30 which covers both themselves and their horse/pony for a full 12 months or directly with The Pony Club from £29.

This announcement follows the end of the qualification period for the 2016 Just for Schools league on Thursday 30th June, and preparations are now under way to get qualification letters out to the successful teams and individuals. Please note that the Direct Qualifier at Aintree Equestrian Centre on Sunday 17th July will qualify for the National Championships 2016.
