National 1.30m Open Championship

The final class of the day in Championship Arena 1 at the British Showjumping National Championships saw 60 riders come forward for the National 1.30m Open Championship.

There were just seven riders clear who went through to the jump off but it was Adam Botham riding nine year old Dakota who clinched first place to take the Championship, winning in a time of 35.45 seconds.

Adam took over the ride of eight year old mare Dakota from Jake Saywell in May this year, the mare won here at the Championships with Jake in both the 1.20m and 1.30m Senior Open classes.

Adam said: “This class was a step down for Dakota and was mainly used to gain her confidence. She is a very feisty mare and she likes to be in control. I really liked the jump off, it played into Dakota’s hands as she was able to flow throughout the course.”
