Louise Pavitt Wins Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Second Round at Addington Manor Equestrian Centre
Monday 18 July 2016
At her first ever show with Emma Harrison’s home-bred Oscar Zee, Louise Pavitt won the Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Second Round and is off to Horse of the Year Show at the NEC, Birmingham, in October.
“My sister Nicole usually rides him, but as she was competing in France, Emma asked me to try him at home to see if we got on, and we hit it off straightaway,” said Louise.
A mammoth one hundred and five starters were reduced to twenty seven for the raised second round over a track built by London 2012 designer Bob Ellis, with twelve reaching the jump-off and chasing after just two finalist passes.
Louise from Horsham, West Sussex produced the winning round in the ninth draw, taking victory by an impressive 3.33 seconds.
“The jump-off was huge, definitely the biggest he’s ever jumped. He’s tiny but lovely and so easy to ride,” said Louise, on the 8-year-old by Cevin Z.
Samantha Jimmison from Doncaster used her penultimate draw to take second aboard Ebolensky, a 7-year-old mare by Clinton and out of a Heartbreaker mare.
Taking Newcomer Masters places and another chance to qualify at the British Showjumping National Championships, Stoneleigh, in August are: Roger McCrea in third with the only other treble clear on Davinci Van De Bosrand, fourth-placed Shane Breen on Foudre F and Ben Walker in fifth aboard Aphrodite IV.
