Leila Lachguer, aged 14 from Grimsby, South Humberside has been awarded the June NAF Shining Star award after being recognised by her Junior Academy Lead Coach.
A member of the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Junior Academy, Leila was nominated for the award by Lead Coach Joanne Burns Firth who had the following to say about her nominee “Leila is hard working, listens in her lessons and has shown great progression. She is a friendly girl and makes other academy members feel welcome and she also works well in a group. Leila is also really delighted to have recently completed her NAF 1* Pony Performance Award. ”
Leila joined British Showjumping in April 2014 and joined her local junior academy soon after. The main reasons she gave for joining were “I knew the academy was a great place to improve my riding and to learn new things”
“I am working hard to progress through my NAF 5* Pony Performance Programme and have just completed my 1*. I am also hoping to continue to gain my double clears to qualify for the Pony Discovery second rounds for next year with my pony Precious Jake.”
As part of her winner’s prize, Leila will receive some NAF equine products to use alongside the products she currently uses which includes their Fly Spray, Silky Mane and Tail a condition spray for smooth, shiny tangle free manes and tails and Horse Muck Off Stain Remover.
Griselda Handy, Brand Manager for NAF, commented “Leila has clearly worked hard and been rewarded by great successes so to top it off we thought there was no better advocate for this month’s Shining Star award”
The NAF Shining Star Award was introduced when NAF became a British Showjumping Business Partner. The award is for members of a Junior Academy who have shown a great deal of commitment, progression and outstanding behaviour along with their riding ability and much more. Riders are nominated by their lead coach, and then judged and awarded by NAF to one person each month.
