KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Regional Final at Richmond Equestrian Centre

The last of the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Regional Finals was held on Sunday 5th August 2012 at Richmond Equestrian Centre in North Yorkshire and the class attracted entries from over 40 eligible horse and rider combinations, all hoping to claim their Championship Final qualification. 
 
The class saw riders gather from all over the country with the aim of qualifying for the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final, which will be held at the Plevin British Showjumping Scope Festival (26th August – 1st September 2012). 
 
From the total number of entries, 45 combinations started in the Regional Final and 25 combinations managed to gain two clear rounds to make it through to the final jump off. In the final jump off, all the remaining combinations were hoping to produce the crucial treble clear required to qualify for the Championship Final. 
 
A notable 13 combinations went on to produce the required treble clear, securing their Final place for August and the overall winner was 28-year-old Emerson Sender from Richmond, North Yorkshire. Emerson won the class on board Karen Nixon’s five-year-old liver chestnut mare, Krystal Clover II. Emerson and Krystal Clover II were the only combination to clear the jump off course in less than 32.00 seconds and they put in a time of 31.07 seconds to clinch the win.  
 
Second place went to 16-year-old Joseph Shaw from Alfreton, Derbyshire. Joseph brought David Shaw’s six-year-old grey mare, Diamond Jessica, home clear over the jump off course in a time of 33.01 seconds to clinch a qualifying spot for the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final.
 
The combination in third place was 29-year-old Laura Stephenson from Keighley, West Yorkshire on board Lynn Burwell’s six-year-old grey gelding, Milo II. The combination went clear over the seven fence jump off in a time of 33.31 seconds.
 
A further 10 riders also achieved their treble clear and they all did so in a time of under 42.00 seconds.

The Plevin British Showjumping Scope Festival 2012 will take place from the 26th August – 1st September 2012 at Staffordshire County Showground.
