KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Regional Final at Quainton Stud

Following a competitive year of qualifying, the fifth KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Regional Final was held on Saturday 9th June 2012 at Quainton Stud in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.
The class attracted entries from all over the country and the riders were all aiming to qualify for the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final, which will be held at the Victory Shavings British Showjumping Scope Festival (26th August – 1st September 2012).
From the total entries, 71 combinations started in the Regional Final and 19 combinations went on to produce the double clear needed to make it through into the final jump off. All of these combinations were hoping to produce the crucial treble clear required to qualify for the Championship Final.
Of the 19 combinations looking for that treble clear, an impressive 11 went on to produce it, securing their Final place for August. The overall winner of the Regional Final was 18-year-old Bryony Ward from Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire. Bryony rode Trina Lewis’ Nick Of Time III clear over the seven fence jump off course in a time of 36.87 seconds.
Bryony finished over a second faster than second placed 24-year-old Karl Robins from Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. Karl took second place on board Nina Gomes’ Roulette VI, and the combination came home clear over the jump off course in a time of37.88 seconds to clinch a qualifying spot for the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final.
Third place went to 33-year-old Emma Jo Slater from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. Emma secured her Championship Final place on board Kim Barzilay’s Tantrum II and the combination cleared the jump off in a time of 38.75 seconds.
A further eight riders also achieved their treble clear and they all did so in a time of under 43.00 seconds.

The Victory Shavings British Showjumping Scope Festival 2012 will take place from the 26th August – 1st September 2012 at Staffordshire County Showground.
