Jodie Burchmore-Eames & Shaunie Greig gain Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic wins at Aintree International Equestrian Centre

The 2019 Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic Qualifiers got underway this weekend at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool and they were held during the 148cm Pony Premier Show.

The hotly contested qualifiers saw all riders focused on securing a top three qualifying place for the prestigious Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic Championship, which will take place at SouthView Competition & Training Centre in Cheshire across the weekend of the 6th – 7th April 2019.

Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic Qualifier – Saturday 19th January 2019

From a field of twenty-three experienced competitors, Jodie Burchmore-Eames, from Northchurch, Hertfordshire, who turned 16 earlier in the week, celebrated with a win in Saturday’s qualifier on board Sadie Burchmore’s 15 year-old dun gelding, Robe Ruadh. With just two combinations through to the second round, Jodie opted to claim the win without jumping a third round after Megan Li and her ride Harry faulted in the second round. Jodie finished at the top of Saturday’s leader board with a double clear in 40.07 seconds.

2nd Megan Li & Harry – 0/12 – 42.38 seconds

Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic Qualifier – Sunday 20th January 2019

Fifteen year-old Shaunie Greig from Aberdeenshire continued her tremendous 2018 form with Anne Greig’s 16 year-old bay gelding, Casino Royale VIII when they triumphed in the qualifier held on the second day of the show. The initial line up saw twenty-six competitors come forward but just four made it through to the final round. The formidable partnership of Shaunie and Casino Royale VIII flew through the finish line over five seconds faster than their closest rivals. Lila Bremner and Foxy Lady 55 took second spot and with Megan Li and Harry picking up their qualification the previous day the next qualifying place passed down to fourth placed Shaunie, this time with Lisa Holmes’ Granouche.

1st Shaunie Greig & Casino Royale VIII – 0/0/0 – 30.38 seconds
2nd Lila Bremner & Foxy Lady 55 – 0/0/0 – 35.43 seconds
3rd Megan Li & Harry – 0/0/0 – 37.27 seconds

4th Shaunie Greig & Granouche – 0/0/4 – 34.57 seconds
