Jenna Good and Western King win the Pony Discovery Championship Final

The final class of the day in Championship Arena 1 was the Pony Discovery Championship Final which saw an incredible 94 starters come forward to tackle the 1.05m course built by lead course designer Jason Abbs. Despite exceptional talent on display, there were just nine through to the jump off, of which only two riders achieved a double clear.  In the fastest time and taking the Pony Discovery title was Jenna Good riding Western King.

Jenna travelled from Hampshire for the Championships bringing two ponies with her; her other pony Moscombe Sirius placed fourth earlier today in the Pony Restricted Rider 1.10m Championship Final and second yesterday in Pony British Novice Championship Final.

Jenna speaks of her win with 10 year old grey gelding, Western King: “I just wanted to go for time in the jump off, I was even prepared to have a pole, so when I realised we had gone clear I was really pleased. Sometimes you just have to go for it and we were going so fast I nearly forgot where to go!”

Jenna has only been riding King since last October after her sister stopped eventing him so this is a great achievement for them. As Jenna will be moving onto horses next season, she concluded: “It was a perfect end to the season and I achieved what I set out to do so I couldn’t ask for anything more.”

It is not only competitors who are guaranteed a fabulous day out, the British Showjumping National Championships also offers a great family day of exciting competition, hospitality and afternoon tea offerings and a retail shopping village. Entry for spectators wishing to take advantage of this fantastic show is free and parking is only £5 per car.
