Horse of the Year Show International Wild Card Qualifier - Incorporating the National Speed Horse Final
Saturday 12 August 2017

Things were ‘hottin up’ in Championship Arena 1 today at the British Showjumping National Championships for the last class of the day, the second leg of the HOYS Wild Card Series which incorporated the National Speed Horse Final. Promising energising entertainment, spectators watched in anticipation to see who would take the lead against the clock over a 1.45m – 1.50m track.
Speed was high on the agenda but for some it came at a price with several riders picking up 4 jump faults. But it was Julie Andrews who clinched the win with 14 year old Wilando B. the combination have been together for four years and won the same class here at the Championships in 2015.
Speaking of her win, Julie commented: “Speed classes are Wilando’s favourite classes. The course was tough and was certainly up to height. He is very experienced and loves his job. On the ground he is very chilled and the nicest horse on the yard. HOYS is the aim for the rest of the year but he has had some great results at international shows through out this year.”
The pair are entered into tomorrow’s HOYS Wild Card Qualifier, which incorporates the British Showjumping Business Partnership International Stairway Final.
