Honor Riley is foot perfect in the STX-UK Pony British Novice Second Round at the British Showjumping Area 48 Show
Monday 10 June 2024
This weekend saw more young riders and their ponies take to the ring to compete in the STX-UK Pony British Novice Second Round at the British Showjumping Area 48 Show.
Competition was fierce, as nearly 50% of the starting field advanced through the rounds to the final jump off, but it was Honor Riley on Nevek Prince, who emerged victorious. The pair delivered a stunning triple clear, completing the jump-off in 29.31 seconds. They edged out second-place finisher Rubi Harper and Lovelyhill Make Believe by just 0.82 seconds.
Kate Riley, owner of Nevek Prince and Honor’s mother, shared her pride in the duo’s journey: “Honor’s had him about 15 months, he had done absolutely nothing before us, their BS journey is just theirs as a partnership. They started at the bottom and have worked their way through.
“She had a great winter qualifying for Blue Chip Finals and British Novice and Discovery Second Rounds, we’re now hoping to pick up some Scope qualifiers.”
Taking the long journey from Stanstead to Chard, Kate told us “It was long way to go, nearly 4 hours there and four hours back in the one day, but you’ve got to do what to go to do, and all the stars aligned on the day, and they were foot perfect all day.”
