Hayley Webster Took Top Spot in the Silver League Semi Final at The College Equestrian Centre, Keysoe
Tuesday 09 August 2016
A large field of fifty-one starters took on the challenge of the Southern Silver League Semi-Final at The College Equestrian Centre, Keysoe but it was the talented Hayley Webster who took home the top spot and a place in the Silver League Final at this year’s Horse of the Year Show in October.
All the riders were going for broke as after the first round thirty-three combinations were still in contention for one of the seven qualification spots up for grabs. The second round saw a few more fences fall taking the numbers down to twenty two in the final jump off against the all-important clock.
There were a few combinations faster but they paid the price for these speed as poles tumbled to the floor. Hayley from Ventnor, Isle of Wight combined speed and accuracy perfectly as she rode straight into first place on board LK Rocky, a 9 year-old bay gelding owned by Dawn Webster. This pair produced their treble clear in 38.51 seconds.
Second place was scooped up by Jessica Baugh from Nottinghamshire as she guided the 8 year-old bay mare Castlemitchell Princess to a treble clear in 39.78 seconds.
Keeping it an all-female affair at the top of the leader board, Laura Whittington from Gloucestershire eased into third place on board Lydia Thomas’ 7 year-old bay mare, Calcourt Normandie. This pair crossed the finish line on their treble clear in 40.11 seconds.
