GREAT BRITAIN SECOND IN DUBLIN

An outstanding performance from the British squad in Dublin saw them share second place in yesterday’s Meydan FEI Nations Cup in Dublin.

Pathfinder Ben Maher and Robin Hood W lowered a single fence in the first round and then went on to produce a foot perfect clear in the second. Geoff Billington and Rosinus had an unlucky fence down in both rounds. Tim Stockdale and Fresh Direct Corlato, showed they were back to top form, jumping a clear first round and then landing an unlucky foot in the water in the second and anchorman Peter Charles emulated Geoff’s score of four faults in the first round. The Brits finished on a total score of sixteen to share second place with Switzerland behind a very impressive Italian squad who definitely went down in a blaze of glory.

It is still uncertain whether yesterday’s second place will save Great Britain from the relegation zone. When the leaderboard calculations were completed at the end of the competition Great Britain and Belgium both finished on a season total of 22 and a lack of clarity in relation to relegation for the ninth placed team will mean that this issue has to be considered by the FEI next week.

France were crowned the 2009 Champions with the United States in second and last years Champions Germany in third.
