Georgia Lovett wins Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C Qualifier at Nottinghamshire County Show

The first Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C Qualifier of the season drew forty-six keen starters to Nottinghamshire County Show in Newark on Sunday and it was Georgia Lovett who gave the winning performance.

With three qualification places available for the Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C Championship Final at Horse of the Year Show, the class proved to be a great competition for competitors and spectators alike. After the challenges of the first round just nineteen combinations remained to compete against the clock in the final jump off.

Georgia Lovett travelled from Solihull, West Midlands with her own 12 year-old grey gelding, Westend Gunner. This partnership saved the best until last as they took on the newly shortened course to produce a clear round in 50.22 seconds, crossing the finish line 2.16 seconds ahead of their nearest competition.

Slipping in to second place was Joseph Clayton from Granby, Nottingham riding Alan Fazakerley’s 8 year-old black gelding, Ballinteskin Eye Catcher. This pair proved their consistency as they jumped a second clear round in a time of 52.38 seconds.

Third place went to Helen Tredwell from Finmere, Buckingham on board Calcourt Fergus, a 7 year-old dark brown gelding owned by Rowland Fernyhough. This combination secured a double clear in 53.33 seconds.
