EQUILIBRIUM Products Senior Discovery Second Round at Pyecombe Horse Show

Pyecombe Horse Show at Brendon Stud in Pyecombe, West Sussex also hosted an EQUILIBRIUM Products Senior Discovery Second Round last weekend, with this being held on Sunday 6th July 2014. Fifty combinations started out in this second round and again, each competitor was focusing on qualifying for the respective Championship Final in August.
Each starter was aiming to produce a treble clear in order to reach the EQUILIBRIUM Products Senior Discovery Championship Final, which will be held at the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival.
Twenty-one combinations delivered two clear rounds to make it through into the final jump off and seven combinations then went on to secure a third clear.
The top spot was taken by the first combination to go in the jump off. Chris Moyce (49) from Dover, Kent secured the win on Checkmate Z, a 6 year-old bay gelding owned Alexandra Taskin after producing a treble clear from his ride in 43.18 seconds.
Commenting on their performance, Chris said “I really enjoyed contesting this second round and it was really nice course that was built by Keith Bristow. Being first to go in a jump off of twenty-one meant that it a surprise to win, but both and Alexandra are delighted with Ziggy's [Checkmate Z] performance. I first rode him just about a month ago and he gave me a great ride in this class.”
Luke Thompson (28) from Pirbright, Surrey also enjoyed a successful class after taking second and third. Luke’s second place came on Katrina Moore’s 7 year-old bay gelding, Cosmos Z after the combination produced a faultless third round in 43.36 seconds.
Luke took third on another of Katrina Moore’s horses, this time on the 7 year-old dark bay gelding Conzalez M. This combination also posted a treble clear, crossing the finish line in 43.76 seconds.
This second round saw an additional four combinations go on to produce a treble clear, which means that seven combinations will now go forward to the EQUILIBRIUM Products Senior Discovery Championship Final.

The Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival 2014 will take place from the 24th – 30th August 2014 at Staffordshire County Showground.
