ENGLISH QUARTET PUSHES IRISH 148CM TEAM TO THE WIRE FOR HOME PONY GOLD AT CAVAN
Wednesday 14 July 2010

Saturday 11th July Ireland saw riders from England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland descend onto the Cavan showground for the Cavan HPI.
Englands 148cm Team was led by chef d'equipe Jack Hammerton and consisted of; Jasmine Cain, Yasmin Davis, Danielle Lawrence and Daisy Hughes.
Bad weather pushed the 148 Team competition to an evening event in the fantastic new Indoor Arena at Cavan. This helped to intensify the atmosphere and meant additional 'finger biting' for the large patriotic home crowd.

Jasmine Cain from Cheshire rode 12 year old black gelding Tirieve Midnight Express owned by her father, David. Jasmine jumped 3 foot perfect rounds in a jump off time of 30.99 seconds.
Second to represent Great Britain was Yasmin Davis from Dorset riding Alison Davis’ 17 year old palomino gelding Knockmartin Gold. The pair had an unlucky 4 faults in both the first and second round but jumped clear in the jump off in a time of 34.41 seconds.
Danielle Lawrence from Middlesex was the next to jump for England. Danielle partnered Georgina Lawrence’s 10 year old grey gelding Woodfield Five Star who jumped 3 clear rounds in a jump off time of 38.46 seconds.
Last to represent England in the 148cm was Daisy Hughes from Oxfordshire riding her mother’s (Gillian) 20 year old piebald gelding CJ’s Kemosabi. The pair had an unlucky 4 faults in the first round, jumped clear in the second and then had another 4 faults in the jump off in a time of 29.13 seconds.
Despite England’s valiant attempt they just missed out on the gold medal by a couple of seconds to the home team Ireland.
