Emily Morris Makes her Mark in Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round at Kingswood Equestrian Centre
Tuesday 20 October 2015

Emily Morris from Prees, Shropshire made her mark in Saturday’s Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round at Kingswood Equestrian Centre in Albrighton, Wolverhampton after leading the jump off from the very start.
Emily was amongst eight combinations who achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which will take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 18th – 22nd November 2015.
From the initial starting field, eight combinations made it through into the jump off after they produced a first round clear. Four of these combinations then went on to deliver a desired double clear.
The quickest double clear was produced by Emily on board her own 10 year-old chestnut gelding Ultimatum II. Having been drawn first to go in the jump off, Emily knew that only a fast clear round would put her in with the chance of taking the top spot. Riding with both precision and speed, Emily achieved the double clear in 22.42 seconds.
Fifteen year-old Matthew Edwards from Shrewsbury, Shropshire got very close to Emily’s time with Claire Ward’s 8 year-old bay mare, Birchenease Girl. Matthew also rode with accuracy and pace to cross through the finish with all fences still standing in 22.46 seconds, just 0.04 seconds off the win.
Cheryl Healey from Shifnal, Shropshire was another rider to break the 23 seconds barrier with a double clear and she did so on her own 14 year-old bay mare, Anna CI. This combination clocked up their final round in 22.79 seconds.
