Douglas Duffin & Daniel Moseley Book Places in Horse & Hound Senior Foxhunter Championship
Wednesday 22 July 2015
Sunday saw Douglas Duffin from Dollar, Clackmannanshire take the top spot in the Horse & Hound Senior Foxhunter Second Round held during the Scottish Summer Extravaganza Show at the Royal Highland Showground.
All fifty-seven starters were aiming to secure one of the two direct qualifying places on offer for the Horse & Hound Senior Foxhunter Championship Final at Horse of the Year Show. Knowing that the production of a treble clear would keep them in contention, competitors jumped in each round with the aim of keeping all the fences up. Just two combinations were able to produce that desired treble clear
Drawn ninth to go in the jump off, Douglas had seen just one other combination deliver a treble clear. Douglas rode the Nicholas Morgan owned 7 year-old chestnut gelding Djoel with accuracy and pace to ensure that he also produced a treble clear and he achieved this in 45.03 seconds.
The only other treble clear came from Daniel Moseley from South Hykeham, Lincolnshire. Dan partnered Damman, a 7 year-old brown gelding owned by Old Lodge. This combination crossed the finish line in 47.33 seconds.
With the two direct qualifying tickets for the Horse & Hound Senior Foxhunter Championship Final already allocated, the combinations in third to fifth took home the chance to compete in the Horse & Hound Senior Foxhunter Masters at the British Showjumping National Championships.
