Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds at Little Kennerley Farm, Isle of Wight

The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds continued at Little Kennerley Farm in Ventor on the Isle of Wight on Sunday 30th September 2012. The venue played host to two of the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds, namely a 0.90cm National Amateur Second Round and a 1.10m National Amateur Second round.

Following a competitive season of first round competitions, competitors rode for the chance to qualify for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree International Equestrian Centre in November 2012 and all of the starting combinations were all hoping to secure one of the twelve direct qualifying tickets on offer for the Championships.

Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Second Round.
The 0.90cm National Amateur Second Round saw six starting combinations begin their qualifying campaign and from these combinations, five made it through to the jump off. The jump off saw four double clears achieved, which meant that the times decided the places.

The top spot was taken by 41-year-old Sharon Waghorn from Ventor, Isle of Wight and Sharon rode a lovely double clear on board Harlequin II, an 11-year-old skewbald gelding, owned by Karen Begley. Sharon rode two accurate rounds to get her double clear and she achieved the second clear in a time of 32.94 seconds to seal the win.

In second place was 20-year-old Aimee Beare from Freshwater, Isle of Wight. She secured second spot on board her own Knightly Surprise, a six-year-old chestnut gelding. Aimee rode her second clear aboard her gelding in a time of 33.84 seconds to ensure that a place in the Championship Final was hers.

Finishing in third was 23-year-old Jodie Bircham from Shanklin, Isle of Wight and she secured her Championship Final place on board her own 13-year old brown gelding, Pauldary’s Casanova. The combination produced their second clear in a time of 38.40 seconds.
